ScriptureDirect enables the user to interact with the meaning of each New Testament Greek word through the creatively designed links between the English translation, the Greek text and the Louw & Nida dictionary. For each word all the possible meanings are shown and the best meaning for the context is indicated. Searches in the New Testament for that specific meaning can then be done.

ScriptureDirect allows you to search for a specific meaning anywhere in the New Testament - making it meaning sensitive.

You can select to search for any meaning in the whole New Testament, a few books or a single book.

The program lists all the references to that meaning. You can then click on any one to open it.

The meaning searches can also be done from an English list. For example:

When you go to the English list of meanings and select "love", you may be surprised to see that there are 34 different meanings for it in the New Testament!

English word lookup

1. Meaning searches can be done from: a word in the New Testament text; a list of Greek words; a list of English words (selected in this example); or all the meanings listed in the dictionary of semantic domains (Louw and Nida).

2. The word "love" is typed in the search box.

3. The meaning "love, loving (affection)" is selected from the meaning list.

4. A total of 34 Greek meanings for "love, loving (affection)" are listed.

5. A description of a selected meaning can be viewed.

6. The references to that meaning are displayed. Click on any reference to open it.
