Problem Description

This problem is only found on Windows systems.

You receive the following error during or after installing ScriptureDirect or when you try to run ScriptureDirect:

Reason

The problem is caused by a conflict between various versions the files:

  • IML32.dll and
  • Dirapi.dll

These files are used by some Adobe programs or programs created with Adobe products. They should exist in the ScriptureDirect\xtras folder and may exist on related folders of other applications created with Adobe products. If they are found at any other location, it could result in this error.

Solution

This problem can be resolved by removing any conflicting copies of these two files from your computer. This is done by searching for the files and then deleting or renaming the copies found in Windows system and temp folders.

Please follow these instruction to resolve the issue:

  1. Open Windows Search – Open the Start menu and click on Search
  2. To search for IML32.dll in all locations, please follow the instructions for either Windows XP or Vista below:

Windows XP:

  1. Open Windows Search – to do this Open the Start menu and click on Search
  2. in the Search window Select "Files and Folders"
  3. enter IML32.dll as the file name
  4. select your main hard drive (usually C:) from the Look In box.
  5. click the Search button
  6. if you find copies in any of the following locations then please delete or rename them (deleting the file will place them in your recycle bin from where they can be restore again; files can be renamed by adding "old" to the end of the filename)
    1. Windows - e.g.  C:\Windows
    2. System32 - e.g. C:\Windows\System32
    3. Temp - e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Temp
  7. repeat the above steps for the Dirapi.dll file.

Windows Vista:

  1. Open Windows Search – to do this Open the Start menu and click on Search
  2. click Advanced Search
  3. select your main hard drive (usually C:) for the location
  4. check the "Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files" box
  5. enter the filename IML32.dll
  6. click the Search button
  7. if you find copies in any of the following locations then please delete or rename them (deleting the file will place them in your recycle bin from where they can be restore again; files can be renamed by adding "old" to the end of the filename)
    1. Windows - e.g.  C:\Windows
    2. System32 - e.g. C:\Windows\System32
    3. Temp - e.g. C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\Temp
  8. repeat the above steps for the Dirapi.dll file.
